Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: It’s OVER (at Least For Now)!
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have broken up, according to a new report.
People confirmed the split today, though reps for the two could not be reached.
The news comes amid myriad reports that they've been having "difficulties."
Guess that was true, to say the least. "Priorities" were said to be the issue.
Whatever that means. Still, all hope may not be lost for the duo. Insiders say they are still "in love" and may eventually get back together again.
Prior to Rob's 27th birthday this week, during which he allegedly ditched out on plans with Kristen, the pair appeared to be still on and going strong.
They were seen at NYC's MET Gala, and then flew back to L.A. May 8. They recently celebrated K-Stew's 23rd birthday and held hands at Coachella.
Following last summer's ordeal - her cheating with Rupert Sanders and issuing a public apology - Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart worked things out.
With the exception of Stewart's admission of her fling, the two never publicly addressed their romance, and things appeared to be totally back to normal.
So much for that. Stick a fork in Robsten, for now.
Robsten: Can they work it out?

Deals: Weinstein’s RADiUS Buys ‘Blue Ruin,’ IFC Takes RAZE
The Weinstein Company's boutique label RADiUS has acquired North American rights to "Blue Ruin," which premiered on Saturday in the Cannes Festival's Director's Fortnight.
An executive close to the deal told TheWrap that Weinstein paid $500,000 for the rights.
Written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier, whose first feature "Murder Party" was a cult hit, "Blue Ruin" tells the story of a man who finds his quiet life upended by unwelcome news and subsequently sets off for his childhood home to carry out an act of revenge. Proving an improbable assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family.

The film was produced by Anish Savjani, Richard Peete and Vincent Savino. RADiUS will release the film theatrically this fall, according to the company.
Co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego said in a news release: "'Blue Ruin' is a masterpiece and a future cult classic. It is one of the most exceptional discoveries of the last few years thanks to Jeremy's deft hand. Having worked with him on 'Murder Party,' we couldn't be more excited for our second collaboration."

Saulnier goes on to say: "Tom and I go way back when he championed my first film 'Murder Party.' I'm thrilled that my new film has found a home with him. RADiUS is absolutely the perfect fit for 'Blue Ruin.'"
This is The Weinstein Company's second acquisition at the festival, after buying "Philomena" for $6 million.
In other acquisition news, IFC Midnight announced that it had acquired North American rights to Cinipix's action/thriller RAZE, directed by Josh Waller. The film, written by Robert Beaucage, stars Zoe Bell, Rachel Nichols, Tracie Thoms and Sherilyn Fenn, and made its world premiere at last month's Tribeca Film Festival. Cinipix financed RAZE. The film was produced by Kenny Gage and Andy Pagana.
RAZE follows Sabrina, a woman who is mysteriously abducted and findsherself in an underground lair, forced to do battle with other innocents for the amusement of unseen spectators. Each of these reluctant warriors has something to lose, but only one will remain when the game is done.
Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: "Josh Waller has crafted the most intense and unique action film that we have seen in a longtime. With the magnificent Zoe Bell leading a strong female cast, RAZE delivers and then some. We can't wait to unleash it upon audiences."
Said Cinipix CEO Todd Slater, "The IFC Midnight team are particularly adept at bringing this type of unique, crowd pleasing film to the marketplace so naturally, this feels like the perfect home for RAZE."
Josh Waller, director, continued with saying "As a filmmaker, one of the biggest things that you can hope for your film, besides getting it made, is that a distribution entity and creative integrity is going to take it 'under their wing' and help to get it out to the masses. With IFC Midnight, we get exactly that.
The deal for the film was negotiated by Jeff Deutchman, Director of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers. Celluloid Dreams is currently selling the film's international rights at Cannes.
‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ $22M Friday For Lower $62.2M Weekend And $75.5M Domestic Cume; Overseas Total Predicted $75M
SATURDAY 4:45 PM, 6TH UPDATE: International for Star Trek Into Darkness from Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions, and director J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot continues way up from the last film with $35M projected for this weekend, led by Russia debuting at $9M vs $2M. That would put the overseas total at a projected $75M through Sunday with just over half of all markets opened.
SATURDAY 8:30 AM, 4TH & 5TH UPDATE: Friday domestic numbers for Star Trek Into Darkness diverged wildly last night as did estimates for the 3-day weekend and 4 1/2-day cume from 3,868 theaters. Heck, they’re still over the place. One thing I can say for sure: despite the passage of 4 years and the addition of 3D and IMAX for ticket premiums, Star Trek Into Darkness even though its release began Wednesday night will not beat 2009′s Star Trek opening 3-day weekend. The new film’s 4 1/2 day number may not even gross bigger than 2009′s $75.2M. Paramount obviously wants to put the best face on an underperforming situation and is still telling me that “when opening day isn’t Friday you get a higher multiple vs Friday”. But the numbers are the numbers, and rival studios have estimates for STID that are dramatically lower. Don’t get me wrong: the movie is still making a lot of money. Just not the $100M cume predicted all week by ... Read More »
Hell No, Tumblr Users Won’t Go To Yahoo!
We’ve all by now heard about how Yahoo is trying to get some “cool” with a supposed $1 billion purchase of hip blogging platform Tumblr, but it may be a moot point if Tumblr’s users fail to stick around post-sale. Microsoft and Facebook may be trying to make a move ahead of Yahoo, Tumblr may be inching ever closer to running out of cash, and (despite that) may not be afraid to play a little hardball. But here’s something you’re not hearing much about: Tumblr’s users are almost universally unhappy with the news that the site might get sold to Yahoo. And they may let their fingers do the talking, and the walking. Do a search on Tumblr for “yahoo” and you get a stream of distress, interspersed with the occasional bit of helpless resignation, and some calls for activism. The voices of reluctant acceptance (usually because of the aforementioned cash situation) or anything like positivity are few and far between. No outright enthusiasm. (Daddy!) See for yourself. It’s a problem that extends to some of Tumblr’s oldest users. “If Tumblr goes to Yahoo, I will seriously consider moving my personal blog to Medium, if that’s possible,” Alexia, co-editor over here at TC, told me. She’s had a blog on Tumblr since June 2009, and, while not part of that coveted 18-24 age bracket, is a significant representative of that other cadre of important users: digital influencers. “I don’t know exactly why, but my Tumblr is a part of my identity. And for whatever reason, I don’t want to identify with Yahoo.” Some have tried to start a petition, with a goal of 5 million signatures although others are cynical about whether this will actually have any effect. User attrition is not something to be dismissed, especially when it appears to be underpinned by wider usage trends on the site. When I wrote a post in January about what might come next for Tumblr as a business (it focused on how it could make money; not how it might need to get sold because it doesn’t), I noted that in the prior month, December 2012, it had 167 million visitors and nearly 18 billion pageviews worldwide (Quantcast figures). The trend over the last six months are down, however: in the U.S. page views are down 21% to 5.3 billion, and uniques down 5% to 76 million. Worldwide the picture is better but still not growing: pageviews are down
Finally, Cannes Dealing! Radius-TWC Nabs Director’s Fortnight Film ‘Blue Ruin’

EXCLUSIVE: Hours after it made its World Premiere in Director’s Fortnight at Cannes, the Jeremy Saulnier-directed Blue Ruin was acquired by Radius-TWC. Radius co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego bought North American rights, and plan to release the film theatrically this fall. (Watch a clip from the film here.) Saulnier, whose film is one of the few American offerings in Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, here directs a story of a man who finds his quiet life upended by unwelcome news and subsequently sets off for his childhood home to carry out an act of revenge. Proving an improbable assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family. Blue Ruin was produced by Anish Savjani, Richard Peete and Vincent Savino.
Saulnier first directed Murder Party, which Radius co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego released at Magnolia. They called his followup Blue Ruin “a masterpiece and a future cult classic. It is one of the most exceptional discoveries of the last few years thanks to Jeremy’s deft hand. We couldn’t be more excited for our second collaboration.”
Said Saulnier: “Tom and I go way back when he championed my first film…I’m thrilled that my new film has found a home with him. Radius is absolutely the perfect fit for Blue Ruin.” Quinn and Janego negotiated the deal with ... Read More »

Hammond On Cannes: Wet Fest’s Official Competition Finally Heats Up With Coen Brothers’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’

Great Gatsby was Out of Competition), Joel Coen and Ethan Coen‘s terrific Inside Llewyn Davis had its first press screening Saturday night to strong response and big buzz on the very rainy Croisette. This tale of a talented folk singer unable to balance art and commerce, and who never quite hits the big time in the late 50′s/early 60′s emerging folk scene, is pure Coen Brothers with a winning mixture of brilliantly observed comedy and darker moments that give it an edge most reminiscent of Coen movies like Barton Fink, which won the Palme d’Or on their first try at Cannes in 1991. Joel Coen also took the Director award that year and again for The Man Who Wasn’t There (2001) among the seven previous times they have been in the Cannes competition. 1994′s The Hudsucker Proxy, 1996′s Fargo, 2000′s O Brother Where Art Thou, 2004′s The Ladykillers and 2007′s No Country For Old Men represent their other numerous chances to reap a second Palme d’Or since Barton Fink but none of them did the trick.
Judging from initial reaction, at least among the press, Inside Llewyn Davis probably makes them an early front-runner for that second Palme. We say early since the film doesn’t have its official ... Read More »
What Games Are: Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Xbox?
With Xbox 360 having started well but ended in a very confused state, I worry that Microsoft is about to carry over much of its baggage to the new console. Will the company make the same mistake of not listening to the market that it has often made in recent years? Will it continue to believe that there is a burgeoning market for an everything box? Or will it refocus on what matters?

The Evolution Of Hacker News
The idea of a VC having its own news aggregator was a bit outlandish in 2007. But Y Combinator was in an unusual position in those days anyway. Startup incubators had been a highly visible part of the dot-com crash, and Silicon Valley was still skeptical of the concept nearly a decade later. So YC set out to be something different -- a community of hackers building companies on their own terms.
