Warner Bros. May Be the One Really Schooled at Its Media Camp
Warner Bros. has selected five start-up companies for its inaugural media camp, which will provide early-stage companies with seed money, training and entertainment expertise over a 12-week period. But the sprawling Hollywood studio may be the one with the most to gain.
Companies like Reelhouse, which helps filmmakers self-distribute their films, and Cinecore, which improves production workflow, will work with executives like Thomas Gewecke, Warner Bros.' recently promoted chief digital officer, at the inaugural camp.
Warner Bros. will get a small stake in those companies, along with something far more valuable – an unfettered look at how a new crop of companies are approaching entertainment.

Dealflicks, a ticket service company, Kumbuya, a social media company, and Storytime Studios will also participate in the camp, modeled on a similar Turner Broadcasting program last year.
Debra Baker, SVP of global business development at the studio's home entertainment division, believes that these companies can help the studio become more nimble and adapt to changing consumer tastes.
"These are businesses that can truly enhance and build new opportunities for us," Baker told TheWrap.
Hollywood talent agency UTA, venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins and USC launched an accelerator earlier this year, but Barber believes by bringing that kind of program in-house it can expose Warner Bros. to new technologies and new ways of approaching a business it has been in for more than 100 years.
Warners has arranged for executives like domestic distribution EVP Jeff Goldstein and Warner Bros. TV marketing chief Lisa Gregorian to work with the start-ups.
"They get to foster, mentor and hear the concerns and needs of start-ups working in the fast-moving entrepreneurial style," she said. "That makes us better as a company."
‘Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson to Star In and Produce ‘Ape’ (Exclusive)
After conquering "The Hunger Games," Josh Hutcherson is set to star in the dark psychological thriller "Ape" for Atomic Owl Pictures and JetLag Productions.
Miguel Sapochnik ("Repo Men") will direct the film from a script by newcomer Jon Johnston.
Bree Herzog is producing for Atomic Owl along with JetLag's Hutcherson, Michelle Fightmaster and Ric Beddingfield. ICM Partners will handle worldwide rights.
"Ape" is a dramatic tale of a young man's struggle with mental illness, love and a deep-rooted family secret.
"We strongly believe in the global appeal of this project and we're excited to work with Bree Herzog and team" said Hutcherson. "'Ape' is a passion project for us and to see it get made would truly be a dream come true."
"Josh is a tremendously talented and versatile actor who has already had an exciting career with roles spanning from blockbuster franchises such as 'The Hunger Games' to award-winning independent films like 'The Kids Are All Right.' We couldn't be happier to be collaborating with Josh and JetLag Productions on 'Ape,'" said Herzog, whose Atomic Owl banner is also developing Pamela Ribon's script "Thank You For Being a Friend."
Hutcherson is currently in Panama filming the Pablo Escobar drug drama "Paradise Lost" with Benicio Del Toro. He'll soon be seen reprising his role as Peeta Mellark in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," which is screening footage at Cannes.
Hutcherson is represented by ICM Partners, manager Ric Beddingfield and attorney Adam Kaller. Sapochnik is repped by WME, Casarotto Ramsay and attorney Warren Dern. Johnston is repped by Paradigm and Principal Entertainment LA. Herzog is repped by attorney Ryan Nord.

Former Digital Domain CEO & Auditors Sued For Fraud By Investors
The fallout from Digital Domain Media Group’s bankruptcy continues with investors in the troubled special effects and 3D conversion firm taking the former CEO, the company’s auditors and other executives to court for fraud. Having lost millions in the James Cameron-founded company just before it went under last September, Iroquois Master Fund and Kingsbrook Opportunities Master Fund late last week
filed a six claim complaint (read it here) against John Textor, his wife Deborah, various DDMG directors and auditors SingerLewak LLP. The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory damages as well as interest, legal fees and “such other and further relief as the Court may deem just and proper.” The complaint in New York State Supreme Court alleges common law fraud, aiding and abetting fraud, negligent misrepresentations and omissions, negligence, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and civil conspiracy.
“The Director Defendants’ assurances that DDMG had sufficient cash and available borrowings to support its operations through 2012 and into 2013 and that Company was likely to turn cash-flow positive in the latter half of 2012 were materially false and misleading,” says the 61-page complaint. DDMG filed for Chapter 11 protection last fall with less than $50,000 on hand. Soon afterwards the Oscar-winning company, which was working on several Hollywood features when it ... Read More »

That was to be followed by a concert with performances by Patti Austin, Colbie Caillat, Michael Feinstein, Siedah Garrett, her daughter Louise Goffin, Shelby Lynne, Gian Marco, Arturo Sandoval and King herself.
On Wednesday, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama formally present the award to King and host their own concert in the East Room. The Time Lance Armstrong Asked Comedian April Macie To Eat His Ass Out
I'm looking at the yellow rubber Munchstrong Livestrong bracelet a whole lot different now.
Comedian April Macie was on Howard Stern on Monday and she put the taste of burnt leather, chemicals, roasted corn and sweat in my mouth when she talked about the time she walked into a hotel room bathroom and caught her friend with a mouthful of Lance Armstrong's b-hole. April says that earlier in the night, she and her butt-munching girlfriend were partying with Lance at a party. Lance invited them back to his hotel room with a bunch of his friends and then this happened:
"I went to use the bathroom, and I went in and Lance was bent over a bathtub and she was just face deep in his asshole...I was terrified. And then he came out and said: ‘Does your friend want in on a round too?’ and I was like: 'Of taint tickling? I’m gonna take a pass'..I think it’s hilarious that he would ask without even knowing my first name—to eat his asshole. Like: ‘Do you want in on a round too? Of asshole eating?...I got pretty for the evening. I didn’t know he was going to ask me to eat his asshole later on.”
Most of the time when I go to a party, I regret going to that party, because going to parties are overrated. But I'd always go to parties if it meant that it would eventually lead to me walking in on some chick going to Rim Town on Lance Armstrong's roided-up ass. That is a perfect postcard moment right there. I'm surprised that Lance's bike seat isn't shaped like a giant tongue.
April's friend is a brave bitch, though. She's a brave bitch, because it takes a hardcore ho to stick her tongue in some random end-of-the-night man culo. She's also brave, because April says this happened about 5 or 6 years ago, so Lance's wrinkled Cheerio was probably roided all the way up then. Lance had The Hulk of anuses. April's friend could've lost her tongue. That's like putting your tongue in a cigar cutter. One minute you're tossing Lance's salad and the next minute you're picking pieces of your tongue out of his no-no.
And now we know what's really going on in this picture:

If that's not a "So, can I sit on your face?" look, I don't know what is.
OK Go’s Damian Kulash Explains Why His Band Built Its Own Mobile Game
OK Go (the band behind hit music videos like "This Too Shall Pass" and "Here It Goes Again") launched its very own game for iOS and Android earlier this month.
Titled Say The Same Thing, you play the game with one of your friends or with a randomly chosen player. (If you sign up now, you can also participate in a temporary promotion where people are randomly selected to play with a band member) Each player types in a word, then you see what the other player said, and you use that as prompt for another word. As the game's title implies, you win when each of you enters the same word.
